Daryl Hall x Chomeo & Travis McCoy

Check out these videos from the series, “Live from Daryl’s House”. Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates still holds it down by collaborating with contemporary artists: Chromeo & Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes for these smooth covers.

Going Away

Here’s a clip of a real chill song Nelly Furtado & K’naan collabed on a couple years back called, “Going Away”. This one didn’t get much exposure so I figured i’d re-post.

Jay Electronica x Just Blaze x Willy Wonka

Diggers of underground hip hop may have heard this track months back, However this joint def deserves more rotations. Jay Electronica & Just Blaze teamed up for this song, “Exhibit A (transformations)”. Def an ill track showcasing pure lyricism & genius production. Just Blaze includes sound bites from an Ernest Hemingway biography as well as audio from the classic movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Tracks like this re-ignite my optimism in the future of hip hop.

N.A.S.A. Music

Ladies & Gentlemen, We have lift off!!! Aficionados of eclectic sound are likely to appreciate the musical project known as, “N.A.S.A.” (North America South America). Engineered by Sam Spiegel (Squeak E. Clean of Los Angeles, CA) and Ze Gonzales (DJ Zegon of Sao Paolo, Brazil), N.A.S.A. has assembled a supporting cast with the likes of: Santogold, RZA, Kanye West, Lykke Li, E-40, Z-Trip, MIA & Fatlip of The Pharcyde (just to name a few). The video above is a trailer for their debut album The Spirit of Apollo. Meshing elements from brazilian-funk, hip/trip-hop, indie rock, electro etc., These cats are bound to create a buzz amongst avid listeners. Their style of connecting artists from various backgrounds and sound spectrums is reminiscent of Dan the Automator & Prince Paul’s project, Handsome Boy Modeling School. Pick up the album and decide whether they are just another musical oddity or pioneering a musical odyssey.
